We’re heading into week two of the One Room Challenge and to be honest, I’m so looking forward to it. I felt like week one slipped by so quickly and that I didn’t get as much accomplished as I had hoped to. I did manage to tackle the most time consuming thing – ordering product! There’s nothing that stresses me out more than finishing a step and having to wait around for what you need to arrive.
Before I start talking your ear off, let me show you guys the real official vision for the space! Its all starting to come together and I’m really considering kicking my toddler out so I can move in when this is all over.
I also got a chance to run to the store and grab all of the molding needed for the trim going up in the room. I managed to measure and cut it all, and I tried to be super independent and start nailing it up by myself but then I suddenly realized my walls were deffffffinitely not plumb. I mean I should have known, but I was just so hopeful. So that project got put on pause for this upcoming week when I could have an extra set of hands to help hold the trim up while I stand back and use my trusty ol’ eyeball to do the hard work! But really, who do I call to invent a level for old houses? A level for walls that aren’t level at all. Its brilliant, I know.
If you’ve been following me over on instagram you might have seen that I got the most beautiful collection of hand painted swatches in from Portola Paints! First of all, let me just say it. I have NEVER had such amazing customer service from any other paint line or store, ever. I could really go on and on about how wonderful they are, but maybe I’ll save that for another post. Anyway, I narrowed it down to four beautiful pinky tones and I also took a little poll over on my instagram stories to see what everyone else was loving too!
Etcetera happened to be the resounding favorite! I really loved that color too, it was in my top 2 but I ultimately chose Duet! I do think this swatch of Duet doesn’t quite show just how beautiful it is, but really its a stunner! Its the perfect earthy pink tone that leans towards not actually being pink. Which is confusing but its exactly what I wanted! I stumbled upon these photos from The Lawrence House and I was sold! They used Duet in their kitchen and I was immediately smitten and knew it would be perfect for this room!
The limewash should hopefully be arriving this week and I’ll be working to get everything ready before it gets here! I still have to touch up some holes in the wall, fix the baseboards, nail up all of the picture frame molding, and spackle and caulk so I’ll have a busy week ahead of me! Keep following along on my instastories for more sneak peeks and to watch my progress! Also be sure to check in here and see the rest of the amazing guests and the rooms they are working on, as well as the featured designers!
